In 2001, our Executive Director, Abdul-Rahmaan I. Muhammad received his first kidney transplant, which lasted an incredible 20 years. However, in August 2021, he experienced kidney failure once again. After years of perseverance, prayers, and unwavering support, Abdul received a new kidney on January 23, 2025—a life-changing gift that has given him another chance at health and wellness.
One of the most crucial things his surgeon emphasized was the importance of hydration. To keep his new kidney healthy, Abdul must drink at least 2 liters of water every day. But the truth is, we all should be doing the same.
Why 2 Liters?
Drinking 2 liters of water daily (about 64 ounces) is essential for everyone's kidney health. Proper hydration:
✅ Flushes out toxins and helps the kidneys filter waste efficiently
✅ Prevents kidney stones and urinary tract infections
✅ Regulates blood pressure and supports overall heart health
✅ Boosts energy levels and mental clarity
✅ Keeps your skin, muscles, and joints hydrated and strong
