​Life After High School

​Helping students prepare for their life after their senior year.
Life After High School (LAHS)  is a program that helps high school students (starting in the 11th grade) to prepare for their life after high school. his could include assisting them with preparing for college, the workforce, starting their own business, vocational programs, or the armed service. The key to LAHS is utilizing the Positive Youth Development (PYD) framework which helps to guide students and their community on the best way to organizes supports, services and opportunities so that young people will succeed. The components of the LAHS program are:
  • Use of the Positive Youth Development Framework
  • Support for students on the road to graduation.
  • Life Mapping
  • Group discussions, visualization of the future and experiential experiences.
  • LAHS workshops focusing on the many options after high school.
  • Participation in tours, presentations and events focusing on different areas of education and employment.
  • Support with college and work applications.
  • Helping students to fully understand scholarships, loans and other life after high school expenses.
  • Development of a 1, 3 and 5 year post high school plan.
  • Ongoing support after graduation

Life After High School Award


Embarking on your life after high school journey can be challenging but we want to help! The My People Community Services Life After High School Award provides up to $500 for high school seniors pursuing higher education, work, personal expenses, living expenses, and entrepreneurial cost.  We want to provide motivated individuals with a boost as they start out in the world to accomplish their goals for the future.  If you are in need of support and you feel like you have a compelling story, apply now at the bottom of this page.  There are only ten awards so make sure you share the information about you and your goals that will stand out. 

Requirements:
  • Must be a graduating senior
  • Must attend high school in Connecticut
  • Must Submit high school transcript (Proof that you're graduating)
  • All Answers must be Minimum of 2 Paragraphs
