My People Community Services and the Muhammad family,
in collaboration with the Greater Hartford Alliance of Black Social Workers are accepting applications for the Abdul-Rahmaan Abd-Raheem Muhammad Community Impact Award.

The Abdul-Rahmaan
Abd-Raheem Muhammad

Community Impact Award

My People Community Services and the Muhammad family, in collaboration with the Greater Hartford Alliance of Black Social Workers are accepting applications for the Abdul-Rahmaan Abd-Raheem Muhammad Community Impact Award.

Abdul-Rahmaan Abd-Raheem Muhammad was best known nationally for being a leader in the field of Social Work.  He served on numerous boards and held leadership position throughout his career in child welfare.  Muhammad was also a devout Muslim who followed the teachings of Imam W. Deen Mohammed.  He would never miss Jummah or Taleem services and was always heavily involved in the Muslim community.  Muhammad was married to his wife, Sahirah Kameela Muhammad, for over forty-nine (49) years.  They had six children and adopted four additional children.  Abdul-Rahmaan Abd-Raheem Muhammad was a great speaker and trainer, he loved to write and recite poetry, and enjoyed playing games like spades, tunk and dominoes.  He was an excellent father; firm but always fair, always had a good story for a lesson and a joke to take the edge off.  He supported each of his children as if he only had one providing them with the unique attention that each one would think he or she was his favorite.  He was truly a kind-hearted man and would give freely of his time or money to those in need.  He was friendly, always first to speak and at times would carry on a conversation with someone you thought he knew for years even though he just met them.  He was the kind of man that other men could and have patterned their lives from although the way he lived his life was effortless in the execution and delivery.  If you had the opportunity to know him, you know how dearly he is missed for those who had the opportunity to know him were made better.
